The safari begins with a morning departure from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, known for its giant baobab trees, vast elephant herds and diverse wildlife. A full-day game drive follows, with a picnic lunch, before you head to your lodge in the late afternoon.
After breakfast you drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive through its groundwater forest, open plains and lakeshore. Look for elephants, giraffes, hippos, baboons, flamingos (seasonal) and the park’s famous tree-climbing lions.
In the afternoon you continue to Karatu for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast you descend 600 metres into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s greatest wildlife destinations and home to the Big Five. A full-day game drive follows, with a picnic lunch beside the hippo pool, before returning to Karatu.
After breakfast comes a leisurely drive back to Arusha. Depending on your departure schedule there may be a stop at a local curio market or cultural centre for souvenir shopping, before your transfer to the airport or your hotel.
